El Deafo
El Deafo chronicles the author's hearing loss at a young age and her subsequent experiences with a powerful and very awkward hearing aid called the Phonic Ear. Now she can hear loads of things - even some things which she shouldn’t! But the Phonic Ear makes her feel different and isolated from her classmates. But, ultimately, she is able to harness the power of the Phonic Ear, make a friend, and become her own superhero!
