The Killing Fields is a 1984 film about the friendship between a Cambodian journalist, Dith Pran, and an American journalist, Sydney Schanberg, during the Cambodian Civil War. When the U.S. Army pulls out as a result of increasing violence, Schanberg makes exit plans for Pran and his family. However, Pran wishes to stay in Cambodia to help cover the unfolding story.
