THE PRIORY LEARNING TRUST

The Priory Learning Trust (TPLT) is made up of 3 secondary academies, 1 sixth form, 5 primary academies, 2 nurseries and 2 pre-schools across North Somerset and Somerset.

“Our values are Students first, cherishing staff and serving our communities.

At our heart is a passion to put ‘Students First’ and deliver exceptional education — beyond outstanding for every single child. We do this with a relentless drive for academic excellence, shared moral purpose and values combined with lots of fun and happiness. We believe that happy schools are also high-achieving, successful schools.”

“The GEC Platform has given us meaningful insights into the perception of EDI across our Trust and provided us with a fantastic opportunity to support our employees and deliver a more inclusive and diverse environment for our staff and students to flourish.”

Why we engaged with the GEC Platform

“We also want to reflect our communities, in order that we can serve them better, and the GEC Platform has allowed us to start exploring this further.

We strive for partnerships between students, families, staff and the wider community to create exceptional student outcomes.

We also ‘cherish’ our staff. We believe they are amazing and are passionate to empower them through support, training and career opportunities.

With such brilliant people all aiming for the same goals, we are able to ensure every student achieves all that they are capable of and more, regardless of their background.”

Using lived-experience insight across the Trust

“We knew there was lots of work to be done across the Trust with EDI, however, the GEC Platform has given us our key priorities to focus on where our staff feel the support is needed the most.”

TPLT joined the GEC Platform as one trust-wide implementation, combining all 13 settings alongside the central team, enabling leaders to understand how inclusion and belonging were experienced across phases and roles.

This created a shared evidence base to support strategic planning across the organisation.

Strengthening inclusion for staff and students across a multi-academy trust

“The GEC Platform has given us meaningful insights into the perception of EDI across our Trust and provided us with a fantastic opportunity to support our employees and deliver a more inclusive and diverse environment for our staff and students to flourish.”

Through this work, TPLT strengthened its ability to:

  • identify trust-wide inclusion priorities

  • understand staff experience across settings

  • align leadership values with lived-experience insight

  • support workforce confidence and belonging

  • create a stronger foundation for inclusive culture across phases

“We knew there was lots of work to be done across the Trust with EDI, however, the GEC Platform has given us our key priorities to focus on where our staff feel the support is needed the most.”

Why this work matters at Trust level

TPLT’s approach shows how listening to staff voice across multiple settings helps trusts move from intention to clarity — identifying where support is most needed and where leadership action can have the greatest impact.

By combining central leadership insight with school-level lived-experience data, the Trust has taken important steps toward ensuring both staff and students can flourish in an environment shaped by shared values and evidence-informed inclusion practice.

Trust-wide inclusion starts with understanding lived experience across your settings.

The Priory Learning Trust demonstrates how bringing staff voice together across phases creates clarity about priorities and supports leaders to act with confidence.

Across the GEC network, trusts are using lived-experience insight to strengthen culture, workforce wellbeing and belonging at scale.
