The Adult Side of Dyslexia

This book combines thought-provoking accounts of the lived experience of dyslexic adults with various tips and strategies for overcoming the challenges which dyslexic people often face.

Drawing on in-depth interviews, Kelli Sandman-Hurley explores common themes such as school experiences; the impact of dyslexia on mental wellbeing; literacy skills; and being a dyslexic parent, sometimes to a child who is also dyslexic. Interviewees share the various strategies that they use to help them in daily tasks as well as those strategies which do not work, accounts of anxiety and low self-esteem, and reflections on how their experience has impacted their own parenting style.

Regardless of whether you're dyslexic or trying to support a loved one who is, this book sheds light on an important topic, providing much-needed guidance and insight around what life is really like for an adult with dyslexia.
