GEC Circle Contributions: Strengthening the GEC Framework:

Victoria Hedlund is a researcher, lecturer, and advocate dedicated to exposing and reducing bias in generative AI—especially its impact on education. As a lecturer at Goldsmiths, University of London, Victoria investigates how educator choices interact with GenAI outputs to shape socially equitable learning outcomes. Founder of GenEdLabs.ai and widely known in the field as “AI Bias Girl,” she blends academic rigour with real-world insight. Her writing and workshops equip school leaders and teachers with tools to guard against bias, design more inclusive AI policy, and ensure all learners benefit fairly. In joining the GEC Circle, Victoria brings a critical lens and deep expertise in AI ethics and educational equity. Her contributions focused on helping institutions become bias-aware, meaning our network can learn from her in ensuring GenAI is used not just innovatively but justly.
